In short: On 29 June 2026 Cisco completed its acquisition of Astrix Security, and SailPoint completed its acquisition of Entro. Both products are strong at finding agents and mapping them to owners. Both now sit inside larger suites. Astrix shares third place in the register and SailPoint Entro shares sixth.
What happened?
Two acquisitions in the agent identity space closed on the same day, 29 June 2026. Cisco completed its acquisition of Astrix Security. SailPoint completed its acquisition of Entro Security.
What does Astrix Security bring?
Astrix describes four discovery methods for finding agents across every layer. It maps every agent and MCP server to its accountable owner. It issues short-lived, just-in-time credentials and applies policy at creation. Policies are evaluated before an action executes, with allow, flag and block outcomes scoped by user, department, platform and resource. It keeps a complete audit trail and adds detection and response.
In the register Astrix scores ten on inventory, the top inventory score. Ownership scores nine. Approval scores three, because human approval was not found and unrecognised activity is flagged instead. Astrix Security shares third place with Cyera Identity at 7.30.
What does SailPoint Entro bring?
SailPoint Entro inventories agents across cloud, SaaS, SDLC and endpoints. It maps every agent, non-human identity and secret to an owner. It grants just-in-time access through Agentic Access Administration. It captures prompt sessions and tracks MCP servers. It also describes granular action policies.
In the register SailPoint Entro scores nine on inventory and nine on ownership. Approval scores two because human approval was not found. It is sold inside SailPoint suites. SailPoint Entro shares sixth place with Aembit and Token Security at 6.55.
What do the two deals have in common?
Both products are strongest at the start of the agent lifecycle: finding agents and putting an owner on each one. Both are weaker on the moment an agent acts, where human approval was not found in public material. Both now sit inside larger companies whose existing customers are the obvious first buyers.
What should buyers do?
If you already run Cisco security products or SailPoint identity governance, the acquired product may be the easiest to add. Check how packaging has changed since the deals closed, since buying clarity often shifts after an acquisition.
If you need per-action approval, ask both vendors to demonstrate it. The register's approval area is where these two platforms trail the leaders by the widest margin.
What will we recheck?
At the next monthly review we will check whether Cisco or SailPoint publish new packaging, pricing or approval features for the acquired products. Any score change will be dated in the corrections log.
Does consolidation change the scores?
Not on its own. Scores rest on documented controls. A change of owner can change packaging and pricing, which affects buying clarity, so we recheck that area first.
